SRV GROUP PLC PRESS RELEASE 09 NOVEMBER 2021 09.00 EET
SRV sells a logistics facility to be built in the Turku region to VVT – the tenant will be Warasto Finland
SRV is selling a warehouse and logistics facility in Lieto in the Turku region to a fund managed by VVT Kiinteistösijoitus Oy. The property has been fully leased to Warasto Finland Oy, which specialises in logistics and warehousing services. Construction will begin with earthworks in November 2021 and the new premises will be completed in February 2023.
“SRV has a long tradition of building logistics facilities around Finland – this new project is an excellent example of our robust property development expertise in the logistics sector. The new property has been developed in cooperation with the lessee and investor right from the start of the project,” says Ari Niemelä, Sales Director for Strategic Project Development, Regional Units at SRV.
The new building will have a total area of around 14,000 square metres. It will also feature initially approximately 2,200 square metres of thermo-regulated space for food logistics. The design of the new building has taken sustainable energy solutions into consideration. The property will be heated using geothermal heat and space will be allocated for a solar electricity system. The aim is to secure a “Very Good” BREEAM environmental certificate for the new building.
“VVT's second fund was established earlier this year and our team has worked hard to acquire the fund's first investments. It is great to have a property in the fund that meets modern logistics standards in a rapidly developing and logistically excellent location in Lieto. The design solutions have taken into account the environmental efficiency that is important to us, as well as the building's expansion possibilities,” says Jan Olin, CEO of VVT Kiinteistösijoitus Oy.
“The building has been designed for logistics right from the start. It will provide state-of-the-art – and environmentally friendly – operating conditions for both us and our customers. Both now and in the future, we intend to develop our operations and provide the full range of logistics services, from the basic needs of companies to frozen goods logistics. The new premises will enable us to grow with our customers and to expand our customer base, regardless of the scale of logistics,” say Santtu Jokela and Kim Sjöholm, the entrepreneurs behind Warasto Finland Oy.
The property is a commercial development project in which SRV sells the property to an investor before construction is started up. SRV has carried out similar development projects in locations such as Vantaankoski, where it has built the Lumijälki 2 logistics centre for Sagax, a logistics centre for HUS and Pressi, which combines logistics facilities and business premises.
