SRV will build the Lamminrahka school centre for 800 children in Kangasala

The City of Kangasala has chosen SRV to build the new Lamminrahka school centre. The project management contract for the school is valued at about EUR 27 million. The project will be launched immediately, and it will be recognised in SRV's order backlog in November.

This three-storey school building will have daycare premises for 140 children and school facilities for 665 children in grades 0 to 6. The school will be built in Lamminrahka, a new residential area in Kangasala. The total area of the building will be approximately 11,000 square metres (gross). At the same time, a sports hall measuring around 1,000 square metres will be built. The construction of the school will begin with earthworks in November 2021 and the project will be completed in June 2023.

“We’re excited to be implementing a functional modern learning environment in Lamminrahka for the children and young people of this new residential area. We’ve successfully carried out many school projects, such as the Kurittula school in Masku and the Jokirinne learning centre in Kirkkonummi last year. This autumn, in turn, we’ve completed new school facilities in the Leppävaara district of Espoo and the Maunula area of Helsinki,” says Henri Sulankivi, Senior Vice President, Regional Units at SRV.

The school centre will consist of three blocky structures connected by a two-storey hub. The facades will be implemented mainly with Finnish brick masonry and wood. Solar collectors and panels will be installed on the roof. Geothermal heat will be utilised for both heating and cooling.

“The Lamminrahka school centre is an important project for us. The school centre is located by the Lamminrahka square and pedestrian street area. It will serve as the centre of the entire Lamminrahka area. We’re pleased that an experienced contractor will implement the school centre project,” says Merja Saarilahti, Construction Manager of the City of Kangasala.
