SRV to implement an education and wellness campus in Siuntio as a lifecycle project

SRV and the municipality of Siuntio have agreed on the construction of a new education and wellness campus. The project will be implemented as a lifecycle project, with SRV responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the property to be built for 20 years. The total value of the project, including lifecycle services, is approximately EUR 37 million. The project will be recognised in SRV’s order backlog in June 2020.

The new premises will enable Finnish and Swedish-speaking pupils to enjoy a safe and familiar learning environment from preschool to the end of comprehensive education in healthy and up-to-date facilities in a central location in the Siuntio town centre. The campus will also include a library and youth facilities.

“We very much look forward to working with the municipality of Siuntio. We are building a new, large-scale education and wellness campus, and we will be taking care of it over the next 20 years. The lifecycle model enables an excellent framework for the municipality of Siuntio to provide services for local residents and high-quality teaching for educational activities, with the construction and maintenance of the property carried out by a single operator using the lifecycle model”, says Director of Unit Saku Kosonen, who is responsible for the project at SRV.

The total area of the two-storey building will be approximately 8,100 square metres (gross). Construction will start in June 2020, to be completed in the spring of 2022. Activities at the education and wellness campus will commence at the beginning of the autumn semester 2022.

“This lifecycle project is the single largest investment project in the entire history of the Siuntio municipality. The aim of the lifecycle project is to make healthy and safe facilities widely available for teaching, library services, as well as recreational and cultural actors. The 20-year service agreement with the contractor associated with the lifecycle project ensures high-quality maintenance of the premises as well as a very energy-efficient and environmentally friendly lifecycle solution, also in terms of carbon footprint. When completed, Siuntio’s education and wellness campus will be a place for diverse municipal services and all recreational and cultural services in the municipality. Together with SRV, we are very eager to implement the largest investment in the municipality’s history”, says Project Director Timo Ryyppö, who is responsible for the project at the municipality of Siuntio.

The goal of the project is to ensure safe and healthy indoor climate conditions for the campus building in accordance with the 20-year service agreement. The solutions aim at structures and materials that are healthy and easy to maintain, as well as at the lowest possible energy consumption.

“We have successfully carried out several school projects, such as the Jätkäsaari comprehensive school and Lauttasaari’s second primary school and day care centre in Helsinki, as well as the Kurittula school in Masku, all completed last year. We are also currently building schools in Tapiola and Leppävaara, Espoo, in Maunula, Helsinki as well as in Kirkkonummi”, Saku Kosonen says.
