SRV to build new premises for the Finnish Security and Intelligence Service
Senate Properties selected SRV to implement the construction of new premises for the Finnish Security and Intelligence Service (Supo) in Kaartinkaupunki, Helsinki. The construction work will start immediately and the new building is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2023/beginning of 2024. The total value of this spearhead alliance project is approximately EUR 130 million, which will be recognised in SRV’s order backlog right away.
The total area of the new office building will be 17,700 m2 (gross). Supo will move in to its new premises during the spring of 2024. The requirements for the premises and structures are particularly strict.
“We are excited to collaborate with Senate Properties again as we have done many demanding projects with them in the past. We will also be able to take full advantage of our expertise and our experiences with many security-classified projects that we have implemented for Senate Properties in the past. Among other projects, we are currently building a new prison in Hämeenlinna,” says Antti Raunemaa, Unit Director at SRV.
With the new facilities, Supo wants to ensure that it can continue to carry out its demanding expert role in the future and develop its activities and working methods as a security and intelligence service. The solutions made for the functionality and safety of the house are therefore exceptional in Finnish conditions.
“The new premises have been designed in close cooperation with Supo in order to maximise the way that the premises support the work done at Supo. The alliance project with SRV also enables developing together the plans and solutions from the users’ perspective during the implementation phase,” says Jonni Laitto, construction management director at Senate Properties.
Supo's new premises are the fifth spearhead project that SRV implements as an alliance project for Senate Properties, the work environment partner and specialist of the Finnish government. This particular contract model, which SRV has also commented on during the development phase, is used in all the biggest and most important projects of Senate Properties.
